Learn to code

Girls in grades six through 12 are invited to attend these Girls Who Code sessions that are designed to inspire, educate and equip girls with computing skills to pursue 21st century opportunities.
The sessions will meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Dec. 11 in the computer lab at the Harrisonville branch of the Cass County Public Library.

Join the Minecraft Club

The Minecraft Club for ages 10 to 14 will meet at 5 p.m. Thursdays through November at the Harrisonville branch of the Cass County Public Library.

Breastfeeding support group to meet

Cass Regional Medical Center, the Cass County Health Department and Amy Hall, certified lactation counselor, will host a breastfeeding support group meeting at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of the month (Nov. 8 and 22). The meeting will be held at Cass Regional Medical Center in conference rooms 1 and 2, located directly inside the main entrance of the hospital at 2800 E. Rock Haven Rd., Harrisonville.

Children ages 18 to 36 months are invited to a toddler storytime at the Harrisonville branch of the Cass County Public Library.
The group meets at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays through November.

Preschool storytime at the library

Preschool children are invited to a preschool storytime at the Harrisonville branch of the Cass County Public Library.
The group meets at 9:30 and 11 a.m. on Wednesdays through November.

Friday, Nov. 16
Free community health screenings at Commerce Bank

Cass Regional Medical Center is providing free health screenings from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 16 at the Commerce Bank, 1301 S. Locust St., Harrisonville.
Receive free blood pressure, blood oxygen and blood sugar screenings and obtain a free total lipid profile, which measures total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides. For most accurate results, screening participants are asked to fast for at least 12 hours prior to the screening and take medications as usual (with water only). No appointments are necessary.

Winter Market scheduled

Shop a variety of arts, crafts, farm goods, food and more from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the third Saturday of each month, November though April inside the Mill Walk Mall, 2601 Cantrell Rd., Harrisonville.

Monday, Nov. 19
Seniors invited to banquet

Local senior citizens are invited to the annual Senior Citizens’ Thanksgiving Banquet Nov. 19 hosted by the Harrisonville High School Student Council.
The banquet will take place beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Harrisonville High School gymnasium.
After the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, entertainment will be provided by the HHS jazz band and the show choir, Music Makers.
There is no RSVP needed for this event.
Transportation will be provided for those who need it. Contact Emily Terwilliger at 816-380-3273, ext. 6850.
Local businesses and community members make this event possible.
Donations are being accepted at three levels – $20 for turkey, $50 for dinner and $100 for the event.
Donations should be made payable to HHS Student Council, 1504 E. Elm, Harrisonville, MO 64701.

Prior to the event, Superintendent Paul Mensching will host a Listening Post from 4:45 to 5:15 p.m. in the HHS Commons. This is an opportunity to meet the new superintendent of schools, ask questions and provide feedback. It is open to all.

Driver examination stations to close in observance of Thanksgiving

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reminds the public that driver examination stations throughout the state will be closed Nov. 22-23 in observance of Thanksgiving. Normal operations will resume Nov. 26.

Love the Square town hall meeting planned

Bring your ideas for the Historic Harrisonville Square with you to the Beck Event Center from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 27.
During this town-hall style meeting, you will learn more about the non-profit group Love the Harrisonville Square and Missouri Main Street Connection’s approach to revitalization.
Refreshments will be provided.

Instant Pot course offered

Learn new recipes and techniques for easy one-pot cooking in an Instant Pot main course session at 6 p.m. Nov. 27 in Pearson Hall, 400 E. Mechanic St., Harrisonville.
